CES: 6 tech innovations to keep an eye on

Posted on 16 Jan. 2023 at 11:23 am

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, an unmissable event for the tech world, again presented its share of innovations in early January. Below you will find a selection of innovative products and futuristic creations that can transform our daily lives in a more or less playful way.

BMW i Vision Dee

BMW continues on the path of avant-garde inventions. After the iX flow version last year, where the color change technology invented by the E-ink company had already caused a surprise, the i Vision Dee goes one step further. Built with circular economy materials, it is packed with connected features and offers total interaction with the driver.

Welcomed with a personalized avatar, customizable color, this model combines augmented reality with virtual reality for a driving experience straight from the future. If this concept does not hit the road immediately, it gives a good idea of German know-how with ideas that will undoubtedly be adopted on certain upcoming series.

Withings U scan

The French brand continues to innovate in the health sector: Withings launches home urinalysis. The principle is very simple: a small stone is attached to the inside of the toilet and analyzes every day all the biomarkers present in the urine – almost 3,000 metabolites. It is able to distinguish users and can accommodate cartridges for different analyses: “nutri-balance” to monitor food and water intake and “cycle-sync” to monitor menstrual and hormonal cycles.

The data is sent via WiFi to an application, which summarizes the results and provides advice on how to improve your daily life and protect your health. Each capsule lasts about three months. A mini revolution. Launching in the summer for €499.95 with subscriptions or individual cartridge purchases.

AtmosGear inline skates

After skateboards, surfboards, bicycles and scooters, the latest urban nomadic objects, rollerblades, are also going electric. French start-up AtmosGear presented a remote-controlled pair in Las Vegas that charges in about an hour, for 20 km of autonomy – possibly more, with a charging system while skating. Several control modes are available: just press the trigger on the remote control to make the rollers move forward on their own, like scooters. In smart mode, the motor is activated when you skate to simply reduce your effort, like on a bicycle. Pre-order for 550 euros.

Invoxia smart collar for dogs

The dog collar of the Invoxia brand – the start-up Issy-Les-Moulineaux – will appear at CES for the second time after the 2022 edition. This time with, in addition to the possibility of tracking your dog thanks to the GPS tracker ( via mobile phone with subscription), a system of various sensors intended to collect data about his health. They analyze his daily life: walking time, rest, meals, but also the stress level and any heart defects.

Enough to literally and figuratively keep an eye on his best friend with a special application, connected via WiFi or Bluetooth. The silicone collar, resistant to water and dust, now adapts to dogs of different sizes and is available in black, gray, red, green and yellow. Launch scheduled for 2023 at an announced price of 169 euros.

Airvida T1

A fairly innovative hybrid product is this in-ear headset, which also serves as an air purifier. With a futuristic silhouette, this small appendage in the shape of a flying saucer makes it possible to block out ambient noise thanks to active noise canceling technology. Of course, it acts as a Bluetooth earphone for music or calls. But the real innovation lies in its ability to disperse negative ions that have the property of eradicating pollution around the face. According to the manufacturer, 99.9% of H1N1 viruses or pollen, for example, and 95.3% of conventional bacteria are destroyed thanks to these particles projected by the Airvida T1.

The special application provides information about the surrounding air, with the ability to “increase” the number of ions to almost 3 million per cm3 every 0.6 seconds. Automatic notifications are also given when the air condition changes, while the case can be used as a table cleaner. Price and availability still unknown.

Acer eKinekt BD 3 bicycle desk

Work is health! In any case, this is the adage that Acer’s engineers have tried to illustrate with this desk bike. The first privilege of this extraordinary hybrid is to practice on the job. Studies have also recently shown that moderate physical activity has a very positive impact on the ability to remember and concentrate.

So here’s an exercise bike that stands under a classic desk that is the size of a small table – big enough to put your computer and smartphone on. It is these two objects that are involved in the second functionality of this futuristic object, as the pedal strokes are converted into energy, recoverable by your connected objects. So double benefit. Expect around 1,000 euros for the spring.
