Among the stars of this year’s CES show in Las Vegas is a homegrown creation, the Peugeot Inception concept car. Under its frankly futuristic look, it hides many clues about Peugeot electric cars of the future. We saw it up close and talked about it with Bijou President Linda Jackson.

The giant taillights and taillights give the Peugeot Concept a strong visual signature. Even if Peugeot announces no return to the American market, the French brand has chosen CES in Las Vegas over the Mondial de l’Auto for its introductory concept, announcing that the new generation of 100% electric cars is coming under the brand and, more broadly, the Stellantis range. A group with 4 American brands: Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram are among its 14 brands, including two dedicated to mobility.
Stellantis president Carlos Tavares gave a keyword Opening the show where he shares his views on the group’s future, he suggests the possible Reducing Operations with the development of electricity and the possibility of a market contraction due to the average purchase cost that is difficult to reach for the largest number, and provided details of the next generations that will contribute to the ambition to become the first carbon-neutral sector by 2038.

A mobility technology player with the size of a large group and the soul of a startup: that’s how Stellantis is defined by his boss, just that! C. Tavares confirmed working with Foxconn, Amazon and Qualcomm for its future cars.
Solid batteries, finally
He also focused on developments in battery technologies, in collaboration with Factorial to reduce cobalt use. The target is 2026 with the long-awaited arrival of a solid electrolyte battery that promises 30% more energy density (50% for the next generation) and up to 800 km of autonomy.
That’s exactly what’s in the technical sheet for the Peugeot Inception concept, the head of the Stellantis wagon at CES, with 680 hp. So the brand French Did it manage to turn all eyes on with a particularly stunning show car, a true statement of Peugeot’s future. Based on the XL version of the all-new 100% electric STLA platform, it aims to evoke the full potential of this new generation.

American electric car
On the Stellantis stand, as the audience rushes to discover the impressive start in American measurements (5 meters long), we were able to meet Linda Jackson, General Manager of the Peugeot brand. The Englishwoman spent her entire career in the auto industry before taking control of Citroën, and then Peugeot for a year. “We chose to make a big car like this because it was the best way to integrate all the technologies we wanted to show off.“, she explained. “We wantISo I introduce the lines He livescornerIsWe are But without overdoing it, which increases liquidity. Future models will incorporate design elements from the concept. Gravity is the new word to sum up the brand. “
The front end is not the pretty kind…
The truncated rear section and giant lights give the Peugeot Concept a strong visual signature.
The slim side screen is both aesthetic and functional.
Detailing the French concept car, we get the first impression of aggressiveness especially because of its bad front end with its very sloping grille, taillights and just in appearance, its vertical claws. The smoothness of the side lines and surface treatments calm things down and the overall look of the car, close to a coupe, is so streamlined, it makes you forget it’s a four-door sedan.

Huge glass surfaces treated like the bubble of an astronaut’s helmet feature attractive reflections, while the bottoms of the doors are capped by a line of screen showing information such as charge level or autonomous driving: both discreet and striking, they can all be seen well.
Futuristic lounge
The highly sliding windshield, located almost at the front of the vehicle, provides a panoramic view of the cockpit. Unmistakably the circular display of the cockpit in white LEDs, as if placed on the dashboard, catches the eye, but it lacks subtlety so that we can see the functions, supposed or real on stage. The onboard system called STLA Brain will be regularly updated remotely, similar to regular smartphone OS updates.
The open counter doors greatly free up the cabin and allow a better view of the cockpit organization. Shaped like a steering wheel, the Hypersquare as Peugeot calls it is oblong, perforated with four holes and all touch controls for the car’s functions. “We wanted to preserve the driving pleasure created with the i-Cockpit and the thinking led to the Hypersquare steering wheels by wire. We’ve done a lot of testing, c“It’s like a console experience for our younger customers“,” L Jackson explains. Which reminds us of Yoke Tesla.
Very visible from the outside…
… the passenger compartment is very open.
Spacious, clear, very modern and at the same time very cold with its raw materials (galvanized sheet metal in particular), the real living room that serves as the cockpit is reminiscent of the world of furniture design. A luxury allowed by the space cleared by real electrical engineering. Sofa-like car seats? We weren’t allowed to sit there, too bad, because they looked so welcoming.
towards production cars
So, what is there to remember from this line-charging show car? Improved ergonomics should find its way into production, with fully electronic steering allowing very limited movements of the rectangular “steering wheel”. Controls (headlights, wipers, audio, infotainment, etc.) are also located in the Hypersquare’s tactile recesses becoming a new way to interact with your car, replacing steering wheel buttons and stalk controls.

The design will also take the direction of what the concept reveals, in a more straightforward style than it does today, just to stand out from the abundance of brands we will see appear in the coming years, particularly in the more compact categories. , Comforts. Lion brand area. See you around 2025 to see the outcome on the road.
