Neo Accelerators are a new kind of program. They aim to support the transformation of the French industrial landscape to make it more innovative and competitive, building structural bridges between tech and fab. Meeting with Alfred Kreiss, CEO of Norcan, a company that integrated the Neo Pivot Industrial Accelerator in 2022.
norcan Truly changed dimension in 2014. Established in 1987, the company has been designing and manufacturing custom industrial equipment for nearly 30 years. The development in R&D and the orientation of innovation towards mobile robotics in the mid-2010s will make Norcan a market leader in mobile autonomous robots (AMR). We asked five questions of Alfred Kreiss, the current CEO of one of the first companies to be founded L’Neo Pivot industrial accelerator.
La French Fab: Tell us about your activity at Norcan?
Alfred Kreiss: Norcan is the leader in France and one of the first in Europe in modular and custom machine-mounted solutions based on aluminum profiles.
Our system, applications and solutions make it possible to meet the performance challenges of industrial plants and flows by improving ergonomics and safety, as well as agility and productivity. Our pride is to guide our customers tofactory of the futurein particular with the integration of the Sherpa range of mobile robots.
LFF: How did you find out about the Neo Pivot Industrial Accelerator and when did you get involved?
AK: We heard about this Accelerator in Spring 2022 in Lyon, through Guillaume Sever, investment monitoring manager at Bpifrance. We joined the Neo Pivot Industrial Accelerator fairly quickly, in June 2022, after also getting in touch with Julien Masson, digital strategy expert and founder of xMakers.
LFF: How did the coaching process work out for your company?
AK: We’re right about that! We have completed the first sprint and will start sprint 2 from January 2023. This second phase consists of expanding our commercial offer, with the creation of a new business model and a little landing page from our site. Then comes the time to launch our new offering on the market. We have a lot of exchanges, whether it’s marketing and branding, with people from a completely different background than ours, it’s very rewarding.
LFF: What will the Neo Pivot Industrial Accelerator mean for your structure?
AK: We immediately found what we wanted to put in the hands of the Neo team. We were faced with a new project business model internally called Smart, but we didn’t know how to market this product. He will finally come to life. Above all, the Neo Pivot Industrial Accelerator will allow us to consider a new approach to communication with our different customers, a different way of selling our know-how, especially through social networks.
LFF: What are the short and medium term projects for Norcan?
AK: We are working on our growth levers and we want to focus the company more on developing large robot projects. We want to support our customers towards factory 4.0 by offering them large-scale projects with a business model totally different.
