
Renault Trucks, Volvo Trucks, Tesla, Nikola, Mercedes, Hyundai and BYD are manufacturers relatively well known for their current and/or future offerings in electric trucks powered by batteries or hydrogen fuel cells. French motorists are probably less familiar with Tevva, which now designs and produces its own heavy-duty cross-Channel vehicles for Europe.
Two models
Based in Tilbury near London, Tevva has set out to create a catalog of modern trucks that includes two very similar models. difference ? One is the BEV, that is, a battery electric vehicle. This is the TEV75B, unveiled in October 2021, which has just started production in the London area for European customers.
The second will be launched a little later in the year. Its name, TEV75BH2, reveals that it contains a hydrogen fuel cell. The latter will act as a range extender. Therefore, the two models share maximum characteristics. Starting with the engine (two motors on the rear axle) that delivers a maximum power of 192 kW (261 hp) for a torque of 596 Nm.
With an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry for greater stability and longer life, the battery has an energy capacity of 105 kWh. The value rises oddly to 112 kWh for the HP H2 version. The packs are located on each side between the two axles. With a load used at 50%, the autonomy of the TEV75B is declared an average of 170 km, with a maximum range of 227 km in the best conditions.
Thanks to the hydrogen fuel cell, these figures rise to 428 and 570 km, respectively. The presence of an expander reduces the total payload, which thus goes from 2942 to 2718 tons. The transfer case is designed not to block the air above the cab, its weight has been studied with the least possible independence.
Local tours
Major electric truck manufacturers talk about direct current charging that could soon reach or exceed 1,000 kW, and sometimes already offer the possibility of exceeding 350 kW. This is not at all Tevva’s stance, which can be guessed by the two truck models. For local touring and last mile deliveries, there’s no need for great range or high cargo power.
But from there to be satisfied with the gift of the first Renault ZOE … Both models are already equipped with 22 kW AC charging. This allows you to restore a 90% level of energy in about 5 hours. This will of course be enough for certain operations on regular rounds, eg.

It has a turning radius of 17.6m for a wheelbase of 4,815m. At 2.16m wide not counting the mirrors, the TEV75B and TEV75BH2 have a maximum length of 8.73m. Thus it can transport up to 15 European pallets.
For convenience, there is a suspension-mounted driver’s seat, with armrests and lumbar support. Equipped with a digital display, the trucks are equipped with various driving aids including ABS, ESP, hill start, lane departure warning, cruise control and speed limiter, etc.
For the H2 range extender version, Tevva thought of offering its services in order to determine the best hydrogen refueling formula. The manufacturer has not announced its price list. But he suggests contacting him to find out what his offer really is.
